Each perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne, or Eau de Solid is crafted with fragrance oils and alcohol. The oils serve as a carrier of the fragrance, while the alcohol forms a bridge between the oil and the skin. The individual categories reflect the ratio between the oil and alcohol content, with perfume having the highest oil content at 15%-30% and Eau de Solid having the lowest at 1%-3%.

The Fragrance Pyramid:

Despite the differences in the quantity ratio, each fragrance component traditionally unfolds gradually according to the so-called fragrance pyramid. This consists of head, heart, and base notes.

Top Notes: The top note is perceived as the first and is the smell immediately after spraying. Often, fresh, minty, aquatic, and airy fragrances are used. The top note of the fragrance lasts for about 15 minutes.

Middle Notes: The middle note forms the middle level of the pyramid and follows after the top note disappears. The aromas of the heart note gradually unfold and determine the character of the respective fragrance. Floral, fruity, and herbaceous aromas are often used.

Base Notes: The base notes form the foundation of the fragrance, rounding off the smell experience and giving the fragrance a certain degree of depth. The base notes are mainly woody, resinous, and gourmandous, i.e., sensual, deep nuances. The smell of the base note may last for several hours depending on the application.

Fragrances for Her: Women's fragrances are mainly made from floral, oriental, semi-borial, or chypre fragrances. Floral fragrances are among the most popular fragrance families, emphasizing the feminine side with their elegant and natural associations. Oriental fragrances smell sweet, heavy, and intense, reminiscent of a world of 1001 nights. Semi-borial perfumes combine the warmth and mystery of oriental fragrances with a harmony of floral and fruity nuances. The Chypre fragrance family is characterized by a fine fragrance that particularly confident women appreciate, offering a strong contrast between warm woody nuances and fresh citrus notes.

Fragrances for Him: For men's fragrances, the main differences lie between woody, leather, and tobacco-like fragrances. Woody scents, extracted from cedar wood, amber, or vetiver, emphasize masculinity and can be combined well with other scents of pepper, cinnamon, or nutmeg. Fragrances with leather nuances usually smell smoky and are perceived as cozy, often combined with floral oils and rounded off. The tobacco scent serves as an ideal base for other fragrances, with its warm and slightly sweet aroma often rounded off with floral and woody fragrances.
